Francine LeClercq

  • “There is no white picture. And there is no old picture. It is always a question of current experience and current perception.”

  • Francine LeClercq was born in Belfort, France and lives in New York City since 1992, where aside from painting, she practices architecture and design with Soltani+LeClercq. She completed her education in interior architecture and fine arts with honors from the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg/ France. She has had the privilege to see her work selected in juried competitions by eminent curators such as Peter Blum/Peter Blum Gallery, James Cuno/Art Institute Chicago, Lynne Warren/ Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, and Maxwell Anderson / Whitney Museum, to mention a few. She recently was included in the exhibition “The Last Supper in Turku Cathedral, Francine LeClercq, Andy Warhol, Pauno Pohjolainen”, curated by historian Perttu Ollila for the Turku Capital of Culture 2011 Program. Museum exhibitions include The McCormick Freedom Museum (Chicago/IL), The Holter Museum of Art (Montana), The Allentown Art Museum (Allentown, PA), The Islip Art Museum (Islip, NY). Her work has been reviewed in The Star-Ledger, The Chicago Sun-Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Allentown Morning Call, The Easton PA Express Times, The New York Times, The New York Times Westchester, The Boston Sunday Globe, Creative Quaterly magazine, Octogon International Magazine , American Style Magazine, Interior Design Magazine, Arhitext International Magazine, Azimuts, Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace (France), Turun Sanomat (Finland) and Taide & Design Magazine (Finland).
